Chanute board approves $157,805 bus purchase and $2 hourly increase for activity drivers

Board members approved two transportation-related items under new business and cooperative reporting. The board moved to purchase a 77-passenger bus from Midwest Bus Sales for a total price of $157,805 (motion by Bri Leroy; second by Dr. Bruce Lee). The purchase was approved on a 7–0 roll-call vote.

Separately, the ANW Special Education Cooperative report led to approval of a $2.00 per hour pay increase for activity bus drivers for all activity trips; that motion was made by Jennifer Zywietz and seconded by Bri Leroy and carried 7–0. The pay increase had been presented under the cooperative report earlier in the meeting.

Both actions were recorded as carried unanimously and will be implemented by the district’s transportation and payroll offices.
