Chanute board holds closed sessions on personnel, reconvenes and approves personnel report

The board twice moved into closed executive sessions under the non-elected personnel exception to the Kansas Open Meetings Act (KOMA). The first closed session concerned an individual employee’s performance and invited Superintendent Matt Koester; the motion to enter session was made by Bri Leroy and seconded by Heather Guernsey and carried 7–0.

Later the board entered a second closed session to discuss resignations, retirements, employments and transfers of non-elected personnel, inviting Superintendent Koester, Assistant Superintendent Dr. Heather Burris and Director Tyler Applegate. That motion was made by Heather Guernsey and seconded by Jennifer Zywietz and carried 7–0. After reconvening, the board approved the personnel report as presented (motion by Bri Leroy; second by Jennifer Zywietz), vote 7–0.
