City staff reviewed seven upcoming special events for October and early November, emphasizing traffic coordination, crowd control and safety measures.
The Poulsbo 0.5 marathon (Oct. 4) will start at 8 a.m.; staff said organizers expect about 850 participants and 30 volunteers and that police will help with traffic control. The North Kitsap High School homecoming parade is scheduled for Oct. 7, and the Kitsap Color Classic bicycle race on Oct. 11 will include a Waterfront Park rest stop.
The autumn bonfire hosted by the Sons of Norway will feature a procession along Front Street and a controlled fire-pit area; staff said crowd-control plans will include a larger cordoned zone than in prior years. The HDPA 'Goulsbo' Halloween event is expected to draw 800–1,000 attendees and will require road closures and coordination with Post Falls Police and Public Works.
Why it matters: These events will bring significant visitor volumes to downtown, requiring careful parking, traffic and safety planning during a month when weather and competing uses create logistical challenges.
