Board members and community partners flagged workforce shortages in both manufacturing and health care and described a series of October events to connect jobseekers with employers. A health‑sector representative said the community welcomed a new general surgeon and two cardiologists and announced a career fair "focused heavily on nurses" on October 13 at the Brandon Center in New Smyrna Beach; the speaker noted the health system currently has a large number of registered‑nurse openings.
The Chair and coalition members also discussed manufacturing month and a consolidated job fair on Oct. 15 at ATC organized by the Daytona Beach Chamber and Volusia County Schools, with students bussed in for morning sessions and adults attending in the afternoon. Members highlighted CTE, CNC and welding programs as pipelines for local industry and described Chamber talent tours that bring students to local employers to expose them to career pathways. No formal funding or program commitments were made at the meeting.
