Sharon Morris presented a concept to create a destination park on the triangle of town land between Broadway and Route 3, citing high daily traffic counts and potential to link the library, town hall and downtown businesses into a walkable corridor.
Morris described a low‑cost approach using native plantings and volunteer labor, noting UNH Extension offered mature native plants at no cost and that wood chips and DPW logistics could keep the cost minimal. "My vision is to preserve the historic integrity of the monuments and the communities," Morris said as she described accessible paths, seating and plantings designed to encourage lingering visitors and support the farmers market.
Board members expressed support in principle; they authorized formation of an ad‑hoc subcommittee to evaluate feasibility, identify volunteers and handle logistics such as the chip drop and timing for planting the donated material. The board asked Morris to submit a volunteer list and some implementation details to staff for the next meeting.
