Pools staff told the advisory board that group swim lessons, school lessons and high-school swim teams are active and that several scheduled meets were set for September. Staff said outdoor pools scaled back once school started and that the inflatables program rotates across sites.
"Right now, all the pools are up and running," a pools staff speaker said, noting recent swim meet dates: Beaufort Pool on Sept. 22 and Bluffton Pool rescheduled to Sept. 15 after an earlier rain cancellation. Staff also reported meal and program activity at senior centers and said school swim lesson times vary by pool.
Staff described operations for inflatable days (first Saturday monthly at specified pools) and said lifeguards must arrive early to check chemicals and set up the equipment. They also announced a second-year dog-friendly event on Sept. 12; staff estimated 30–40 dogs in past years and said admission is the standard daily rate per dog.
The board asked about next steps on pool projects and staff said further discussion and updates would be provided in later agenda items. Pools staff encouraged community participation in upcoming events and swim programming.
