The Oakley Planning Commission approved a conditional-use permit for an accessory building over 2,000 square feet at 5650 North Fransen Lane on Sept. 2, allowing a roughly 6,700-square-foot structure intended for personal storage of vehicles and equipment.
"This building will be about 6,700 square feet," staff (Stephanie) said while describing the site and noting HOA conditions including a 100-foot setback from the northern property line and a 27-foot maximum building height. Staff and the HOA limited the structure to non-habitable, agricultural-style use (no kitchens, showers or sleeping areas) unless separately approved by the HOA and the city.
Applicant Tyler Rogers clarified the building is "just for parking" and that the HOA told them short-term rentals are not prohibited by the CC&Rs; he said the owners have no plans to use the accessory structure for rental purposes. Neighbors asked about exterior design and the building's garage-door placement; staff said architectural details will be refined through the building-permit process.
Commissioners asked for dark-sky compliance and confirmation that the structure would not be used commercially; after a public hearing and questions, the commission approved the conditional-use permit with staff conditions and standard building-permit review.
