The Board approved exercising an option to buy a 1.1-acre parcel adjacent to the Douglas Tag office for $260,000 and to pay the county's portion of closing costs. Andrew Dils, director of facilities, said the lot adds roughly 85 stalls, preserves access and circulation around the Tag office and maintains operational flexibility for future county-owned use.
Dils said the purchase will be paid from the treasurer's auto license fund, which he noted is separate from the county's general operating fund. The board moved, seconded and voted 5-0 to authorize the chairman to sign purchase documents.
Why it matters: The acquisition secures parking and circulation for a county service location and avoids potential future development that could constrain access. Funding comes from a dedicated auto-license revenue fund rather than general county operations.
