The Isanti County Board approved a one-year extension of the maintenance agreement for the county’s Viper 7 dispatch system, which provides caller latitude/longitude and other enhanced data for 9-1-1 dispatch.
Chad Meyer presented the request, describing the maintenance agreement as a “bumper-to-bumper warranty” that provides on-call fixes and on-site repairs when hardware or components fail. “Viper 7, when a caller comes in, our call comes into dispatch, it gives us lat long location, information of the caller, and so forth, helps us pinpoint more information when we're dispatching phone calls,” Meyer said.
Commissioners clarified that the original contract included three years of maintenance and that the county was now in year four; they amended a proposed longer renewal to a one-year extension and approved the year-by-year maintenance renewal. The contract will be paid from E-9-1-1 funds; speakers discussed approximate costs for the extension (a figure of about $51,000 was mentioned during the discussion).
What happens next: the maintenance agreement will continue on a one-year renewal basis; staff said the county may periodically solicit bids to ensure market competitiveness.
