The City of Cooper City and a group identified in the record as SPG Cooper City reached a negotiated settlement on multiple code-enforcement and building-code cases, and Special Magistrate Angel Petty Rosenberg approved the stipulation at the Sept. 2 hearing.
Bridal Sherman, assistant city attorney, described the global agreement as a consolidated resolution for multiple properties and dockets and said the city had agreed to reductions “where applicable” under city code. The stipulation reduced one code case (Case 220077) from $108,500 to a principal of $25,000 plus $304 in costs, reduced another case by 95% to $637 plus fees, and lowered a building-code penalty from $14,250 to $3,562.50 where a 75% reduction was appropriate. The parties agreed that certain pending fines accrued to date — for example, $60,500 in one building case — would be paid as part of the settlement and that some compliance dates would be extended to March 1, 2027. "We agree with what the city attorney put on the record," said Felix Asarte, counsel for SPG Cooper City.
Rosenberg entered the stipulation on the record and stated, "I will approve this stipulation as of today, 09/02/2026." The reduced fines in the agreement amount to about $101,444.50 and must be paid within 30 days or the amounts will revert to the original totals and the city may pursue recording and lien remedies. The stipulation also provides extended compliance windows for several building-code matters and requires payment of the negotiated principals plus standard recording and staff fees.
