Representatives working on a Turnbull Creek Regional Resilience Corridor white paper described their effort to coordinate planning among New Smyrna Beach, Edgewater, Oak Hill and Volusia County. Bliss Jamieson and EJ Cox said they are awaiting county comments and hope to present the plan at an Oct. 14 Chamber summit where the three cities and county staff will be invited to build consensus. The group said a coordinated, phased approach and a subsequent joint resolution could help leverage funding and avoid piecemeal actions.
Samantha Evans, city CRA and economic development director, said the team is drafting one-pagers about the corridor's benefits to each jurisdiction and will work to secure participation from elected officials and staff. Committee members were invited to the summit, asked to provide input or a letter of support, and told that the white paper aims to keep engineering, planning and funding decisions aligned across jurisdictions.
