Dr. Hanley updated council on Northeastern State University's Broken Arrow campus, reporting multi-year enrollment gains and several operational developments.
He said a recent law (Senate Bill 701) allowed first- and second-year courses on the Broken Arrow campus. NSU reported a 4.8% increase in overall enrollment, 30% growth in freshman classes, and a 19% increase in enrollment at the Broken Arrow campus. Dr. Hanley cited a newly released ranking by Washington Monthly that placed NSU seventh nationally on social-mobility metrics. He also described an economic-impact estimate of approximately $1,000,000,000 in annual regional input for NSU campuses combined.
Dr. Hanley shared that NSU had become the exclusive higher-education sponsor of the new amphitheater and expected to move the Broken Arrow campus graduation ceremony to that venue in the future. Council thanked NSU leaders for the update and congratulated the campus on enrollment and community engagement gains.
