A resident requesting a temporary road closure for a two-day benefit for Susan Patrice told the Iowa County Board of Supervisors they plan a poker run on Saturday the 26th and asked the board to close a short commercial stretch so bikers and pedestrians could be safe.
"On Saturday, we're on the Saturday, the 26th, we're doing a poker run. And what we're aiming to do with that is we'd like to close off part of the road to get the bikers lined up for the poker run," the resident said. She said bikers leave at about 10 a.m., asked for a shorter closure window (roughly 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.) and said she had contacted the two directly affected businesses who were agreeable to the plan. Committee member (speaker 4) asked for a map; the resident said a yellow area had been highlighted in an email but she would resend an updated map.
The board voted to approve the amended road-closure request and asked the resident to send an updated map. Chair (speaker 2) confirmed no additional business authorizations were required at the meeting and no written business consents were mandated by the board. The resident said organizers would reopen the road between events when possible and that final signage and the exact start and end points would be coordinated with county staff.
