The Pinal County Board of Supervisors approved a proclamation honoring the Rotary Club of Casa Grande on its 100th anniversary. The Rotary's representatives — Robert Miller and Zoe Cooper — presented a brief history and described recent programs, fundraising and a community Oktoberfest event scheduled Oct. 3.
Zoe Cooper told the board the club’s scholarship program “has awarded over $1,600,000 to local high school students to date,” and Brittany Schmidt described a new evergreen grant program providing awards from $500 to $5,000 for community organizations. Supervisor Miller moved to approve the proclamation; the motion passed with no recorded opposition, and the proclamation was read into the record.
The proclamation commemorates the club’s founding on Oct. 3, 1926, highlights community projects and encourages residents to join centennial events. The board and club members posed for a group photo following the reading.
