The Tuscarawas County Board of Commissioners approved multiple interdepartmental fund transfers Aug. 31 to address immediate cost pressures in county programs.
"It was moved by Commissioner Pace, seconded by Commissioner Ress to approve the following transfer of funds," the meeting record states. The Board of DD transfers included $7,437.36 to cover workers' compensation now requiring payment in advance, $24,258.09 to address higher-than-budgeted auditor and treasurer fees, and $100,000.00 to fund unexpected repairs. An additional Community Corrections transfer of $187.18 covered a shortfall for workers' compensation. All transfers were approved as Resolution 639-2026 with Commissioners Kristin Zemis, Greg Ress and Mitch Pace voting yes.
The record lists account codes for each move but did not include further discussion in the minutes about the repairs or long-term budget adjustments. County staff (recorded via the journal entries) will process the transfers through the Auditor's office.
