Staff told the commission the Board of Bids and Contracts packet contained 14 items, most of which relate to human resources and employee-benefit contracts, and highlighted several county projects for procurement.
"Item number 1 on bid board is scrub seal oil for public works. Item 2 is public elevator upgrade in main courthouse... and Radio system modernization for 09/11, that was a master agreement," the manager said, listing projects that will go to the bid board. He noted competitive bids were used where appropriate and that Icon Structures was the low bidder for the courthouse elevator upgrade.
Sheena, who addressed benefits, described the benefits contracts as renewals after a multi-year term: "So most of the contracts we have right now, we're ending a 5 year. It was a period of 3 year plus 2 1 year renewals... We are not going out to bid for our medical and, pharmacy plans. Those are still under contract right now." Sheena said remaining plans were bid where the term cycle required it and described the types of benefits included (COBRA, dental, vision, flex spending, life/AD&D, short-term disability, hospital indemnity, critical illness and cancer benefits).
The commission did not take final procurement votes during the agenda-review discussion; staff framed the items for the upcoming Board of Bids and Contracts meeting and answered procedural questions about competitive bids and contract terms.
