Commissioners spent substantial time debating whether the municipal ordinance should include a posted map of authorized OHV/ATV routes and whether to add Mill Road as an authorized route. Supporters argued a map helps visitors and lets the sheriff enforce restricted routes; opponents said the map could lead to enforcement confusion, especially for street-legal side-by-sides and visiting drivers.
One commissioner framed the enforcement challenge bluntly: "If we don't have the map, I can tell them what to look out for," noting that signs and a visible map help direct drivers to safe routes. Others worried that visitors with street-legal vehicles could be ticketed if enforcement relies on the map alone. Commissioners discussed retaining the map but updating it (for example to add Mill Road or to note school zones) and sending the final ordinance to the sheriff's office once adopted.
After discussion the commission moved and carried a motion to table proposed Ordinance 6-2 (all vehicles) so staff can refine the draft and update the map for presentation at a future meeting.
