The special called board meeting opened at 4:00 p.m. Aug. 28 in the City Hall Board Room. Mayor Johnny D. Stevens and members Alderman Nicholas Holliday, Alderwoman Rhonda Moore, Alderman James Ivory, Alderman Jeremy Belle and Alderman John Cain were listed among those present. Alderman John Cain gave the invocation.
The minutes note that City Attorney Walter H. Zinn, Jr. participated by telephone from 4:00–4:16 p.m. The record shows two substantive motions: one on authorizing the chamber director to submit an MDA grant application for the third rail spur and another hiring Williams & Bass, PLLC as outside counsel for pending federal litigation. The board then approved a motion to adjourn until the Sept. 1, 2026 board meeting.
"A motion was made by Alderman Cain, seconded by Alderman Belle to adjourn until the September 1, 2026, Board Meeting. On a roll call vote, all present voted 'Aye'," the minutes state.
