During the non‑agenda public comment period Kelly Pichon James of Dixon Community Theater asked the council to acknowledge growing inequities in access to arts programs and said volunteers and nonprofits cannot be expected to make up for school budget shortfalls by paying for facility access. "When volunteers and non profit organizations that exist solely for public benefit are expected to pay for the privilege of donating their time and resources to support children in the community, something has gone very wrong," she said, noting the theater has contributed thousands of volunteer hours and out‑of‑pocket expenses to serve children.
Allison Nagle, co‑executive director of Sustainable Solano, invited council and residents to an Air Quality Summit set for Oct. 17 in Suisun City that will feature presentations from the California Air Resources Board, youth projects, workshops and Spanish language translation; she said the event will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and that the first 15 non‑government registered participants will receive checks to honor their time.
