The Skagway Municipality Historic District Commission approved building paint approval application 2026075 and authorized the permitting official to issue the certificate of approval. No applicant attended the hearing, so the commission closed the public hearing and considered staff clarification about lot lines and which portion of the building falls within the historic district.
Commissioners noted photos showing a green-painted back portion of the building and asked whether that section was part of the application. The permitting official explained that the application covered the façade on 3rd Avenue only and that the part of the building shown in photo 11 belongs to Lot 9 in an industrial zone: "The lot line is right here," the permitting official said while indicating the map and the redline supplied with the application. Because the painted area under review is the façade inside the historic-district lot line, commissioners found the application consistent with guidelines and voted 3-0 to approve and to authorize the permitting official to issue a certificate of approval.
The commission asked staff to clarify lot-line maps in future submittals to avoid similar confusion.
