Patricia Dunsikan Riley, a Salida-area resident, told the Chaffee County Board of County Commissioners that two properties on County Road 152 are operating as industrial storage yards without the required limited-use permits and are too close to nearby residences.
"I'm here to speak about two unpermitted storage yard operations on County Road 152," Riley said, providing addresses and urging the county's Community Planning and Natural Resources staff to inspect the sites and initiate enforcement. She told the board she filed a request for inspection more than 23 days earlier and had received no follow-up.
Riley said one property advertises industrial storage on a commercial marketplace and that both sit significantly short of the county's required 300-foot setback from residential buildings. The commissioners thanked Riley for raising the concern; no formal motion or vote followed from the dais during the public-comment period.
The board did not make a decision during the meeting but Chair Locreti and other commissioners said they heard the complaint and indicated staff would be expected to follow up. The county's code-enforcement process and the timeline for any inspection or formal notice were not specified during the discussion.
