Selectmen approve renaming of Woodhill Village Extension to Veterans Way after 9‑1‑1 safety concerns

The selectmen approved a request from the new owner of Woodrow Village (Liberty Ridge Mobile Home Park) to rename the private way currently known as Woodhill Village Extension to Veterans Way to reduce address confusion for emergency responders and delivery services.

Zach Branscomb of New Hampshire 9‑1‑1 told the board duplicate road names can cause serious response problems and recounted a case where two Grove Streets led to a 30‑minute delay and fatalities: "It resulted in about a 30 minute delay, total loss for the house, and there was actually 2 casualties involved," Branscomb said while urging the board to proceed with renaming. He also noted the state law (RSA citation provided to the board) discourages duplicate names and supports town action to remove dangerous duplicates where practical.

Board members discussed homeowner impacts such as DMV and mail updates; staff said the town will issue a notice (effective date given as 09/30/2026) and provide residents with forms and resources to notify USPS, DMV and utilities. A motion to rename the private way was made and approved by a 4‑vote majority.
