Two state House candidates used the citizens-to-be-heard portion of the council meeting to introduce themselves to the council and audience.
George Bridal, running for House District 118, introduced his upbringing and economic background, framed his campaign as defending a vision of opportunity and said he would advocate at the state level for policies that reduce property taxes while protecting municipal revenue and support for economic development.
Melva Rivera Perez, a retired lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Army who said she served 28.5 years, introduced herself as a candidate for House District 119, described her ties to the Randolph/Fort Sam Houston area and said she is running to put "people before politics." Perez provided a campaign website (melva4texas.com) for more information.
Mayor thanked both candidates and wished them luck. Their remarks were part of public comment and no action was required or taken by the council.
