Nick Anjaki, director of HR operations, told the OCC work session that the county is pursuing tuition‑discount memoranda of understanding with campuses in the Colorado State University system.
"They offer, 5 undergrad, 7 graduate, and 5 certificate programs where employees get a 10% discount, on their tuition off the bat," Anjaki said, summarizing the CSU Pueblo offer and noting a similar 10% discount is being pursued with CSU Global. He said the MOUs would have no direct cost to Pueblo County and would be advertised to employees during open enrollment and new‑hire orientation.
Anjaki said CSU Global would broaden program availability beyond CSU Pueblo’s offerings — "20 bachelor programs, 18 master programs, 20 undergraduate certificate programs, and 10 graduate level certificate programs" — and framed the partnerships as an added benefit to help employees upskill or retrain. He asked commissioners to allow staff to finalize MOUs with county counsel and said he would return with formal documents for board consideration if commissioners wished.
The presentation emphasized the benefit to recruitment and retention while noting implementation steps (internal communication during enrollment cycles) and that the county would not pay for the tuition discounts directly.
