Peekskill’s City Council voted unanimously on Aug. 31 to award the 2026 street‑resurfacing contract to Laura Lee Industries, LLC for $842,492.25.
“On 08/24/2026, proposal will receive and open for the 2026 resurfacing of street contract. We received a total of 3 bids and the lowest bid with Laura Lee Industry at $842,492.25,” DPW Superintendent Cornell Hammonds told the council before the vote. Hammonds read a list of streets proposed for resurfacing, saying the list is subject to change.
The resolution (J‑1) authorizes the city manager to enter into an agreement with Laura Lee Industries as the lowest responsible bidder for bid number 2026‑003. Council members asked about the project schedule; Hammonds said the city needs to finalize the contract and he was “hoping within the next few weeks” that paving work would begin. The council recorded the motion and a unanimous voice vote carried the resolution.
The project’s initial street list read into the record included South Division; Orchard; Decatur Street (Orchard to Maine); Lita Drive; Requois Street; Orton Drive; Lincoln Terrace; Constant Avenue; Nelson Avenue (to the dead end); The Boulevard (Prospect to Riverview); Pew Street; Franklin Hudson; Short Street; Lower Washington (to the city line); Phoenix Avenue; and several others. Hammonds noted the list could be amended based on operational needs and patching priorities.
No public speakers addressed this item during the meeting, and the council moved on to other agenda items after approving the contract.
