Durham County voters will see three constitutional amendments on their November 3, 2026 ballot, elections director Derek Bowens said on In Touch with Durham County.
Bowens identified the three measures as a property-tax-levy amendment, a proposal to lower the statutory income-tax rate cap (from 7% to 3.5%) and a voter-identification amendment that clarifies photo ID requirements apply to both in-person and absentee voters. "That last one is just to make it clear that the photo ID requirement applies to in-person voters, and absentee voters," he said.
Bowens also listed the slate of contested offices: U.S. Senate and congressional seats, state Supreme Court and appellate court positions, superior and district court judges, district attorney, register of deeds and sheriff, along with Soil and Water Conservation District and North Carolina House and Senate contests. He noted that voters on the Raleigh side of Durham County may additionally see two bond referendums.
"We've got a lot of activity, a lot of contests on the ballot," Bowens said, describing a physically large, two-sided ballot. He urged voters to check county materials for sample ballots and polling-location details ahead of early voting.
