The Flatonia ISD board adopted a tax-rate resolution for 2026–27 setting the maintenance and operations rate at 0.7484 and the interest and sinking rate at 0.0810, a total property-tax rate of 0.8294.
Robin walked trustees through the arithmetic and cautioned that even where a rate falls slightly taxpayers can still see higher bills because of rising taxable values phased in by county limits on annual value increases. "What happened about 3 or 4 years ago ... your property values went from ... $170,000 and it went to $320,000 in 1 year," Robin said, explaining the 10% annual cap carry-forward that causes taxable-value 'catch-up.' The staff presentation compared last year's rates (M&O 0.7552; I&S about 0.06835) and showed the net effect for property owners.
A trustee moved to adopt the resolution, a second was recorded, the board voted by voice and the Chair announced the motion passed. The rate adoption gives the district the taxing authority for the fiscal year and will be reflected on the district's tax roll and notices to property owners.
