Staff previewed the bid-board package (14 items), noting most are related to human-resources ancillary-benefit contracts and a handful are procurement items for public works and facilities. The listed procurement items included scrub-seal oil for public works (competitive low bid), a main courthouse elevator upgrade (Icon Structures recommended), and a radio system modernization master agreement.
Sheena, speaking for HR/benefits, outlined the benefits renewals and timeline: "So most of the contracts we have right now, we're ending a 5 year. It was a period of 3 year plus 2 1 year renewals." She explained the county was not re-bidding its medical and pharmacy plans at this time because those remain under contract. The ancillary benefits under review included COBRA administration, dental, vision, life and accidental death and dismemberment, dependent life, short-term disability, worksite benefits, hospital indemnity and critical-illness coverage.
Commissioners asked clarifying questions about contracting periods and the county's approach to renewals; staff said many of the items are routine renewals and competitive bids where required. The items were presented on the bid board for approval where appropriate.
