The board approved a set of routine budget amendments and transfers and adopted a resolution calling on the Chatham Area Transit Authority (CAT) to improve fiscal and administrative transparency.
The itemized adjustments read into the record included a General Fund increase to museum revenue of $17,673, a Special Service District transfer in of $14,511 from the risk-management fund to support a fire/technology subscription increase, and a capital-improvement transfer to establish a sheriff's security-system project for $176,908. A motion to approve the amendments was made and seconded, and commissioners were asked to cast their votes.
Separately, the board moved and seconded a county resolution directing CAT to "demand greater fiscal and administrative accountability, transparency, and clarity" in its management of transit service. That resolution passed. The commission also read, for first reading, an ordinance proposing a temporary moratorium on developing large-scale data centers (an electrical-capacity threshold was discussed during the reading); the board scheduled a second reading and public hearing at the next meeting.
