Superintendent Dr. Hay opened his report by welcoming staff and families to the 2026–27 school year and thanking custodial, administrative and technical teams for summer work preparing buildings, schedules and devices for students.
"We're so excited to welcome kids next week," Dr. Hay said, noting convocation and a student spotlight video shown to the board. He listed construction projects at Indian Crest, West Broad and Southford Hills that remain in phased completion and said crews are "buttoning up" spaces so teachers can move in.
Dr. Hay also highlighted student achievements and summer activities: FBLA national competition where student Nate Domel placed 10th in the nation; a faculty-led trip to Greece with 35 high-school students; over 50 pints collected at a high-school blood drive; nearly 300 children in district day camps; and almost 1,000 participants in athletic camps. He noted an Alex's Lemonade stand raised over $2,500 for pediatric cancer.
Board members expressed appreciation for staff efforts and for the update.
