Board member Miss Wisser said she is now the district's representative to the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit (MCIU) and summarized an ad hoc committee review of the executive director's professional development and procurement-card practices; the committee concluded that an audit of MCIU procurement-card policy and a review of professional-development and travel policies may be warranted, and the IU plans to create ad hoc committees for travel, professional development and procurement cards.
Separately, a speaker provided a construction update for North Monaco Technical Career Center, saying a second-floor renovation of the health-sciences area doubled capacity for in-demand classes and is scheduled to open about one week after school begins. The project experienced material delays but has an alternate plan for instruction while finishing touches are completed.
Miss Wisser said she has expressed interest in serving on one of the new MCIU ad hoc committees and noted the next IU meeting is scheduled for September 23.
