The SHELBYVILLE ISD board approved amendments to the 2025–26 budget that reallocated funds across functions and used a $905,000 drawdown of fund balance to complete payment for the district field house.
A staff member told trustees, "The $905,000 decrease in fund balance is what we used to pay for the, remainder of the field house." The presenter described the changes as internal reallocations that "all balance out." The presenter moved to approve the amendments and the chair seconded; the chair called for the question and a voice "Aye" was recorded. The transcript does not include a roll-call tally.
Trustees were also briefed on an expected shortfall in the food-service program. The presenter said the food-service operation "is gonna end up in a deficit of about $35,000," and that the district had already raised adult meal prices and planned additional revenue and cost-control measures. The presenter said the district has sufficient fund balance to cover the projected deficit for the current year.
The board did not request further action on the amendments beyond the approval recorded in the meeting; staff indicated operational adjustments will be part of next year’s planning.
