Commissioners reviewed proposed line items and agreed to reduce the government-center repairs and maintenance allocation and to trim the ambulance increase. The chair proposed cutting government-center repairs from $25,300 to $10,300; commissioners debated whether to cut $10,000–$15,000 and ultimately agreed to a reduction that aimed to protect reserves while retaining capacity to respond to major failures.
On ambulance funding, staff and commissioners discussed that most of the replacement cost for a new ambulance had been saved in prior years. Trimming the proposed ambulance increase from a 5.7% bump toward a 3.4% target would reduce the increase by about $30,000, one department head said. Commissioners cautioned about leaving the county short on replacement capacity if a unit fails mid-year and directed staff to provide revised line-item figures and rationale for the chosen amounts.
