Danny Lagana, Mohave County accreditation coordinator and public information officer, updated the board on the Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP) cycle, summarizing prior cycle work groups and current progress on access to care, stigma reduction, nutrition and workforce development. He said the county has expanded outreach, launched a social media presence for stigma reduction training and established an advisory group to strengthen rural representation from Beaver Dam, Fort Mohave and Hualapai communities.
Lagana noted specific local accomplishments: "The nutrition work group in Bullhead City was awarded a $55,000 grant to expand the community garden." He added that the county's Level Up nursing internship program (in partnership with KRMC and Mohave College) aims to build local workforce capacity. When asked who provided the $55,000 grant, Lagana said he did not know the donor and would follow up to identify and report back to the board. The board offered positive feedback on the community‑led programs and suggested continued emphasis on plain‑language outreach and measurable outcomes.
