During open forum, Tina White, chair of the Johnson County Central Appraisal District board, told the Crowley ISD trustees she had sent a letter to Superintendent McFarland requesting the taxing entities’ approval for a property purchase. White said the appraisal district has an offer of $6,500,000—"20% below the appraised value"—and plans to finance the purchase with a bank loan over 15–20 years rather than issuing bonds. She said the appraisal district’s current building in Cleburne is old, not ADA‑compliant and has concerns such as possible asbestos and inadequate parking; she said inspections are underway and a bank has promised a loan pending approval.
White asked for the district’s support in approving the taxing entities’ consent for the purchase, noting that the appraisal district has evaluated alternatives (remodel, buy existing building, buy land and build) and believes the selected building best meets its needs. She offered to answer trustees’ questions and said her chief appraiser, Mitch Fast, was present. Trustees thanked White and said they would review the letter sent to the superintendent.
