Petition 5247 asked the board to allow K‑3 commercial auto services (vehicle vinyl wrapping) at a residence on Cranberry Lane. The applicants said the business’s primary location is 11 North Main Street and that wrapping work would be done inside a large garage at the residence. They told the board that most activity occurs at the North Main location and that only one car would be inside the garage at a time when wrapping occurs.
A large group of neighbors spoke in opposition, citing increased traffic, frequent comings and goings, noise, an expanded driveway and the presence of a commercial dumpster and wrapped tractor‑trailer work that occurred outdoors in the past. Mary O’Neil of 118 Cranberry said she was concerned about safety for pedestrians where there are no sidewalks; Barbara Blussoitz described the site as having the look of a commercial operation and said neighbors objected to the change in character. Board members reviewed the record, noted prior enforcement (violation dated 11/19/2024), and several said K‑3 auto services are a prohibited use in the R‑40 residential district. With no clear path to meeting the variance criteria and concern about setting a precedent for commercial expansion into residential neighborhoods, the petitioner asked to withdraw the application. The board voted to allow withdrawal without prejudice, 5–0. The chair advised the petitioner that the withdrawal preserves appeal rights but that operating without relief could trigger fines under the existing violation notice.
