The Jamaica Beach City Council on Aug. 27 voted to adopt a property tax rate of 0.162326 for fiscal year 2026–27.
Chair called for the proposal after staff identified a correction to the number presented at the prior meeting. Administrator Gilbert acknowledged a prior misread and confirmed the corrected no-new-revenue rate. The council took individual votes and the chair announced there were three ayes and that the rate had passed. "It has passed," the chair said after the roll-call votes.
The measure was positioned as a technical correction that produces no new revenue for the city and will be used in the FY2027 budget calculations. The council did not record a full roll-call tally in the transcript beyond the chair's announcement of "3 ayes" and the procedural statements that followed. There was no public comment opposed to the proposed rate during the meeting.
The next procedural step recorded in the meeting was continuation of other budget and ordinance business on the agenda.
