Christina Stone urges Bellaire commission to address stalled project at 5202 Linden Street

Resident Christina Stone told the commission she and neighbors have dealt with an unfinished lot at 5202 Linden Street for years and asked whether the commission could spur construction or otherwise address the site. "I am Christina Stone and I actually served on this board for quite a long time and, I'm here to talk about 5202 Linden Street I live at 5212 Linden Street," she said, recounting materials and machinery left on the lot and intermittent on-site activity.

Staff and commissioners responded that the city cannot force private construction to finish unless the site creates an unsafe or substandard condition that would trigger enforcement. The building official said permits may become void after 18 months and suggested staff could review the permit history and consider a code-enforcement path; the commission agreed the matter could be revisited as part of a future building-official report. Commissioner discussion also noted that recent resident emails appeared to prompt renewed site activity.
