At its Aug. 27 meeting, the City of Broken Arrow Planning Commission heard an update on outreach for the downtown master plan. Jane, who provided the update and whose last name was not given in the transcript, said outreach included an open house and staff presence at the farmer’s market, and that the city had received 177 survey responses as of the prior day.
"As of yesterday, we only had 177 responses to the survey," Jane said, adding that the communications department planned another email blast to increase responses. She told commissioners staff hopes to convene a joint meeting with the City Council to review the ideas gathered before the consultant begins refining the plan.
Jane said Sept. 30 was a possible date, but acknowledged scheduling conflicts and suggested the meeting might fall in the third or fourth week of October. When a commissioner asked where the joint meeting might be held, Jane said it could start an hour before a regular city council meeting so a separate meeting date would not be needed.
Commissioners did not take formal action on the plan at this meeting. The update was informational; staff indicated it would follow up with scheduling details and additional outreach to boost public survey participation.
