The Washington State Gambling Commission voted to forward the Tulalip Tribes’ restated Class‑3 compact to the governor after presentations by tribal representatives and staff.
Hayden Chapo, speaking on behalf of the Tulalip Tribes, described the restatement as a modernization that consolidates 12 prior amendments and reiterated the tribe’s emphasis that gaming revenues fund government services, employment and charitable contributions. "These amendments continue the successful model by modernizing portions of the compact to reflect today's operational realities while preserving integrity in a well established and comprehensive regulatory system," Chapo said.
Staff summarized the restatement’s highlights: inclusion of $1,000 table game and ETG limits, a $50 TLS wager cap, jackpot‑sharing across facilities, and a stepped approach to add 1,000 player terminals. Staff also described reorganized appendices and updated responsible‑gaming policies.
During the roll call the commission recorded ayes from most members; Commissioner Charles voted nay. The chair announced the motion passed and directed staff to forward the restated compact to the governor for review and final execution.
