The Carlsbad Senior Citizen Commission announced at a special meeting Aug. 27 that it will adjourn to a bus tour to inspect park facilities and planned capital improvement projects. Chair Shewey opened the session at 1 p.m. and moved the meeting to departmental reports, where city staff outlined the tour route and items to review.
A staff member told commissioners, "For our item today, we are gonna go on a senior commission tour." The presenter listed the stops the commission will make: "we will be visiting Poinsettia Park, Community Park, Alga Norte Aquatic Center And Community Park, and then Stagecoach Community Center And Park." The staff member said the tour will highlight specific amenities and CIP projects, including synthetic turf at Poinsettia Park and resurfacing of tennis and pickleball courts, as well as dog-park improvements. The staff member added that handouts will be distributed on the bus.
The announcement did not include new funding amounts, schedules, or formal votes; commissioners heard the presentation and then prepared to depart for the field tour. The session closed its business items and adjourned onto the bus for the site visits. The tour provides commissioners an opportunity to view planned improvements in person before any subsequent committee recommendations or formal actions.
No public hearings or votes occurred during the special meeting; the commission's next procedural steps regarding the projects were not specified during the remarks.
