The board’s strategic‑plan working group reported progress on revising the APP deaccession policy and related procurement and acquisition processes. Chelsea said the draft includes two templates: one for reviewing pieces under consideration for deaccession and a second flow for decisions when an item is to be retained temporarily or re‑evaluated.
Chelsea said the working group would present a fuller draft and accompanying templates to the full board in September and that Tim agreed to produce a flowchart to accompany the revised procedures. The goal is to make criteria and the stepwise process clearer — for instance, how to document deterioration, when to notify the state, and how to handle community input and potential transfers or relocations.
Board members said the additional structure — a checklist, templates and a flowchart — should reduce future ambiguity when items are reviewed for conservation, relocation or deaccession.
