Pinal County supervisors on Aug. 26 approved several personnel and pay policy changes affecting the Sheriff’s Office and countywide compensation.
Items approved included revisions to the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) Law Enforcement Step Plan; authorization to create a Pilot (Civilian) job classification with funding allocated in the FY2026–2027 budget; and a countywide revision of pay grades and salary ranges including replacement of Pinal County Policy 4.20 (Wage and Salary Administration). The Board also amended Section E.2. of the 2026/2027 Employee Compensation Plan to allow across‑the‑board increases to be applied to base salary even when the result exceeds a salary‑grade maximum, rather than paying a one‑time lump sum. The policy change was slated to take effect the pay period beginning Oct. 25, 2026.
Ross Teeple presented sheriff‑office items; Kimberlee Verdugo and MaryEllen Sheppard presented county pay and classification changes. Each item was listed as approved in the agenda record (Item Action: Approved). The agenda indicates funding for the new position and pay‑structure changes is included in the FY26/27 budget.
