Walkersville honors late planning commissioner Richard Brady and announces fall events

The board opened the Aug. 26 meeting with an invocation honoring Richard Brady, who served on the Walkersville Planning Commission through 2024. The Chair asked for a moment of silence and prayers for Brady's friends and family; later in the meeting several residents, including David Dennis, offered public comments praising Brady's guidance and long service to the commission and the county.

Commissioners also used the meeting to announce a slate of fall community events: the Walkersville Glade Valley Community Show (entries Sept. 29; opens Sept. 30), a meet-the-candidates forum on Sept. 3, the town election on Sept. 14, and several other community and fire-company events. The clerk and staff reminded officials about absentee ballot deadlines and upcoming committee meetings.
