Residents at the Aug. 27 meeting urged the Planning Commission and developer to consider sidewalks and other safety improvements along Cedar Grove Road as part of the proposed five-lot subdivision. Thomas White and several neighbors said new homes present an opportunity to add pedestrian connections linking Park Lane, Kingswood Lane and nearby recreational areas.
"I think this is a great opportunity if there's going to be development along Cedar Grove," Thomas White (speaker 5) said, arguing that sidewalks should be added now to prevent later fragmentation of pedestrian access. Commissioners and the engineer noted that Cedar Grove is a PennDOT road and sidewalk installation could involve land not controlled by the developer; they recommended feasibility be reviewed by the township engineer and considered by the Board of Commissioners in later steps.
The applicant said it would discuss sidewalks with the township and explore feasibility, while also noting the Planning Commission's role is to recommend and not impose binding requirements; commissioners agreed to recommend consideration of sidewalks as a condition of their approval recommendation rather than an enforceable requirement at this stage.
