The Senior Center Council on Aging (COA) voted to adopt a time‑use policy for exercise equipment after concerns were raised about some users occupying machines for extended periods while others waited. J. Ciejka opened the March meeting at 9:00 a.m., and J. Zienowicz brought the concern to the floor on behalf of a caller.
"They would like the COA to consider a policy to restrict the time usage during busy periods of the day," J. Zienowicz reported, citing a senior's complaint that people were staying on the treadmill or seated elliptical for over an hour. The COA's adopted policy sets a 30‑minute limit when others are waiting, requires appropriate footwear, asks users to clean equipment after use, and requests that users shut off the fan when finished.
A motion by J. Cappe to accept the new policy carried "all in favor." The measure is procedural and internal to the center: it sets conduct expectations for members and visitors but does not create a fee or disciplinary procedure beyond enforcement by center staff. The board did not specify an implementation date beyond immediate adoption.
The COA adjourned at 10:00 a.m.; its next meeting is scheduled for April 16, 2019, at 9:00 a.m.
