Jeremiah Glisson, deputy city manager, told the Youth Advisory Committee he will provide regular updates on major city projects and said the City Commission will vote soon on the fiscal year budget that begins Oct. 1.
"Just for this next year, we have $47,000,000 of projects that will be happening, for fiscal year, what we call '27," Glisson said as he described the capital improvement program (CIP). He highlighted stormwater upgrades (including work on Ash Street and Area 6) and said projects range from visible surface repairs to underground infrastructure work that residents may notice as construction activity.
Glisson encouraged students to follow project updates and to ask questions so they could understand how public projects affect community life. He told members the updates are intended to demystify topics such as paid parking, utilities, and other municipal services so students can better participate in civic discussions.
