The Sedgwick County Fire District No. 1 governing body voted 5-0 to adopt the district’s 2027 operating budget of $33,499,131.
County Manager Tom Stolz said the recommended operating budget totals $33,499,131 and includes $25,438,662 in property tax dollars, which he said is approximately equivalent to a mill levy of 16.754 based on estimated assessed valuation. The chair opened the public-comment period for the budget and recorded no speakers. One commissioner offered extended remarks thanking Sedgwick County Fire staff, the advisory and steering council, county leadership and partner cities for work on aid agreements and planning efforts; that commissioner noted “153 staff” and about “75,000 citizens” in the district and said the district is healthier after recent work.
After discussion, the chair moved to adopt the budget resolution and authorized the chair to sign; the motion was seconded and passed on a 5-0 roll call.
