At its Aug. 27 meeting the Saint Paul City Council approved multiple funding items for parks and public safety.
The council authorized acceptance of $70,469.50 from the Green Cities Accord to support the city’s tree‑planting program; the sponsor described the program as enabling private carbon‑offset purchasers to fund urban tree planting. Separately, the council approved accepting $2,907,008 in Parks & Trails Legacy funds and authorized related grant agreements and amendments to Parks & Recreation’s financing plan. The council also approved a $3,922 donation from the Saint Paul Parks Conservancy for the Doctor Justice O’Hage Memorial Restoration Project.
On public safety funding, the council authorized the Police Department to accept the 2025 State Homeland Security Program grant from the Minnesota Department of Public Safety and amended the 2026 grant budget accordingly. All funding and grant measures were adopted unanimously (7–0).
