River Forest SD 90 board moves into closed session to discuss personnel matters

The River Forest SD 90 Board of Education held a special Committee of the Whole meeting on Dec. 20, 2025, in the Willard Multipurpose Room. President Kathleen Avalos called the meeting to order at approximately 8:27 a.m., and the board approved the meeting agenda by roll call before moving into a closed session on personnel matters.

A procedural motion to enter closed session "in order to discuss I) The appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees, specific individuals who serve as independent contractors in a park, recreational, or educational setting, or specific volunteers of the public body or legal counsel for the public body" was moved by Joseph Cortese and seconded by Dr. Kristine Mackey. On roll call the seven board members voted aye and the motion carried; the board went into closed session at approximately 8:28 a.m. The motion text in the meeting record also notes that meetings to consider wage increases subject to the Local Government Wage Increase Transparency Act may not be closed and must follow that Act's posting and open-meeting requirements.

The board returned to open session with the same members present at approximately 11:45 a.m. The transcript records no subsequent public action or vote after the closed session; the meeting adjourned shortly thereafter.
